and display services for lighthouse lenses of any characteristic
or Order and all other illuminating apparatus. I have worked with

is equally important and none are too large or too small.
Preservation,
Restoration & Maintenance
Classical Fresnel lighthouse lenses are significant examples
of the combined skills of the scientist and industrial artist
of the 19th and early 20th Centuries. Their preservation
requires special skills that can only be attained with years
of hands-on
experience. Services include:
On-site inspection of lenses and rotating machinery.
Thorough evaluation of existing conditions.
Detailed written assessments and work plans describing work necessary
for preservation.
Total restoration capabilities for all lens deficiencies from
cosmetic work to total teardown and reconstruction and replacement
of missing components.
Services for clockworks and rotating machinery including mercury
float, chariot and ball bearing systems.
Replacement of mercury float systems with environmentally safe
ball bearings.
Display
Educational, interpretive public display that provides total
exhibit security can offer unique challenges.
Evaluation of display spaces with an eye to presentation and
protection.
Recommendations for displays that will be interpretive and educational
while fully
protecting the extremely fragile components of the apparatus.
Artifact
specific maintenance guidelines and staff training are available.
Transportation
Due to their fragile and complex construction; lenses require
an experienced team of professionals for disassembly, packing
and crating, transportation and reassembly.
Complete services to disassemble, protectively package, move
and reassemble lenses of any size.
Temporarily remove lenses for
repair and future reinstallation.
Crating for short or long term storage. Packing methods and
material selections based on project complexity and storage
requirements. Artifact conservation is always the paramount
concern.
