PILOT PROGRAM
LIGHTHOUSES & THEIR STATUS
Applications were sent for eight of the nine excessed
light stations on March 12, 2002 to interested parties
who responded to Notices of Availability which were
published in fall 2001 by the General Services Administration.
Completed applications were submitted to the Department
of Interior within 60 days from receipt.
Lightstations included in the NHLPA Pilot Program were:
Cheboygan River Front Range Lighthouse, Cheboygan County,
Cheboygan, Michigan
Status: Application pending further review
Currituck Beach Lighttower, Corolla, North Carolina
Status: Applications sent to interested parties in November

Esopus Meadows Lighthouse, Ulster County, Esopus, New
York
Status: Transferred to the non-profit, Esopus Meadows
Lighthouse, Inc., in ceremony on Sunday, September 22,
2002
Little River Lightstation, Maine
Status: Transferred to the non-profit, American Lighthouse
Foundation, Inc., in ceremony on Saturday, July 27,
2002
Munising Station, Front/Rear Range Lights, Munising,
Alger County, Michigan
Status: Transferred to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore,
November 25, 2002
Rondout Creek, Ulster County, Kingston, New York
Status: Transferred to the City of Kingston, New York
